The Ikusasa School of Cooking is a cooking School for young men and woman who cannot afford to attend regular culinary Institutions and who lack family support to advance their studies.

Ikusasa is for the financially and socially disadvantaged, and aims to give a chance to those who want to make a success of their lives, but for one or more reasons have had few opportunities available to them. Under the guidance of a fully qualified Culinary Lecturer from the IHS (The International Hotel School) and including a City & Guilds of London Qualification in the course structure, Ikusasa gives its students all they need to find their feet in the industry.

The Ikusasa School of Cooking is academically supported by the IHS ( and students accepted into the programme work towards Skills Foundation and Proficiency Awards in Basic Food Preparation issued by City & Guilds of London. These awards have been designed to provide a broad, basic
Introduction to the essential practical skills required for a career in the world of Culinary Arts.

Candidates are to have come from poor and financially and socially
disadvantaged backgrounds. Preference is given to candidates who were or are still residents within Children’s Homes/orphanages. Children with learning difficulties are also considered as the practical nature of the course is well suited for less academically inclined individuals.
